The Byrna SD Pepper Kit, successor to the Byrna HD, has been re-engineered for optimal performance. It operates on compressed air (CO2) and fires .68 caliber projectiles, either kinetic or chemical irritant, capable of incapacitating threats at a range of up to 60 feet. Despite its powerful nature, it is classified as a non-lethal self-defense weapon and does not require a permit or background check for ownership, with a minimum age requirement of 18 years.

a projectile speed of up to 300 feet per second, an ergonomic honeycomb grip for improved control, enhanced sights for quicker target acquisition, a straight trigger with a 6.5 lb. trigger pull weight on the second shot for smoother operation, and an ambidextrous safe/fire switch for convenient toggling by both left-handed and right-handed users.
